Rachel and George’s story began at Tullamarine Airport Terminal 2 in May 2023.

After three years of long-distance phone calls spanning thousands of kilometres, Rachel finally travelled from the Philippines to Melbourne, Australia to visit George in his hometown in rural Victoria. Their first meeting at Tullamarine Airport in Melbourne was filled with excitement, nerves, and endless possibilities.

That trip marked the beginning of a new chapter for the couple. Rachel experienced life in Australia firsthand, while George introduced her to his world, family, and friends.

Rachel and George were strongly committed to one another right from the start. They got engaged shortly after Rachel arrived in Australia and were married 6 weeks later.

Together they were envisioning a shared future, and soon the question arose: how could Rachel stay in Australia so they could build their lives together?

Australian Dream

The Subclass 820 Onshore Partner Visa was the perfect option for Rachel and George to bridge the gap between dreams and reality. Rachel submitted her Partner Visa application in January 2024. After applying for a Subclass 820 visa, Rachel could stay in Australia holding a Bridging Visa with work rights, study rights and Medicare, providing the stability they needed to build a life together in Australia. Bridging Visa: Rachel’s Bridging Visa allowed her to pursue her study goals and have access to Medicare while her Partner Visa application was being processed.
Subclass 820 Partner Visa: Rachel’s Subclass 820 visa was granted almost exactly 10 months after the application was submitted, including one RFI.

Visa Success

“There were bumps and humps along the way but it was all worth it,” Rachel said as she looked back on the stress and challenges they had faced through years of phone calls and the visa application journey.
